A Randomised Controlled Study of Topical Benzoyl Peroixde with Oral Doxycycline Versus Topical Benzoyl Peroxide with Oral Lymecycline in Acne Vulgaris

Background: Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of pilosebaceous unit, which has variable course, with acute or insidious onset, relapses and recurrences. It one the commonest patients attending dermatology clinic. Tetracyclines are most common oral antibiotic prescribed for acne vulgaris. Aims: Our study aims to compare efficacy topical 2.5% Benzoyl peroxide gel (BPO) Doxycycline versus Lymecycline in treatment Methods: The included 100 divided into two groups 50 each. Group A were treated once daily application at night capsule 100mg twice day B Peroxide 408 mg 12 weeks. primary assessment was done using Indian Association (IAA) grading baseline then every fortnight till Patients followed up another weeks after completion study. Results: gradewise distribution based upon IAA among both compared. Chi square test p value all 3 grades baseline, 2week, 4 week, 6 8 10 week showed statistical improvement group 2, being 0.01,0.01 0.007 respectively. Conclusions: From our it evident that superior Doxycycline, much significance moderate severe acne.
